Community compassion at Camp Quality Convoy

Tuesday, 17 November 2015

When it comes to fundraisers in Australia, none get as big or as heart-warming as the i98FM Camp Quality Convoy. Thousands of trucks and bikes descended upon the NSW Illawarra region in unison for a great day out, and all for an even greater cause.

Camp Quality is a charity dedicated to raising funds to assist children affected by cancer and their families. Participants are also able to bid for lead truck or lead bike honours, and all funds raised in this auction also go to Camp Quality.

Exceeding the million-dollar mark for the last three years, this year’s total reached a whopping $1.3 million even before the event started. The lead truck bid of $220,000 went to Coastal Windows and Doors.

The convoy saw more than 764 trucks and more than 950 bikes  on the 70km route from the West Cliff Colliery on Appin Road to Croome Road Sporting Grounds, Albion Park Rail.

Grey weather could not deter the thousands of onlookers, mainly children, waved at the amazing spectacle from vantage points around the Illawarra.

Brendon Munn, Senior Dealer Support at Hino Australia brought down  a 500 Series GH to the convoy.

“It was a great event, with horns blaring and kids waving, it is obvious to see why it is such a huge community event. We’re very proud to be involved and to join the action,” Mr Munn said.

The convoy is a highlight of the Illawara calendar, with a large diverse crowd coming together to celebrate a huge community achievement and to raise awareness of the great work of Camp Quality.
