Hino Australia Donates Engine For Further Education
Thursday, 17 December 2015
Hino Australia has donated a heavy-duty truck engine to assist in a mechanical course at Shellharbour TAFE in NSW.
Hino Australia Technical Trainer Brett Smith made the handover of the engine at an informal ceremony to Illawarra TAFE’s Automotive Head Teacher, Daniel Severino, earlier this week.
The donated E13C engine has been pulled from a Hino 700 Series, the largest truck in the Hino range. From this week the donated motor will reside in the classroom of the Shellharbour campus’ Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology course.
Familiarity with the size and layout of these engines will be crucial in a real-world application enabling students to hit the ground running in their apprenticeship. With the full-sized engine available, students can get hands-on experience with the Hino engine and provide an opportunity to apply theory to the real thing.
The Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology course gives students knowledge of the range of tasks encountered by those in the heavy vehicle mechanical sector. A growing area with stable demand for skilled work, students looking to the industry are finding rewarding careers.
The donation strengthens Shellharbour TAFE’s relationship with Illawarra Hino, the campus having previously purchased a Hino 700 Series for training.
Hino Australia wishes Mr Severino’s students the best of luck for their future in the heavy vehicle industry.
